Do I have to do Readathon at a particular time in the school year?
No, you can do it whenever it suits the school to do so. It is an ideal activity for a bookweek, World Book Day etc.
What are the benefits for the school?
1. The school will see an improvement in children's motivation for reading.
2. Not only do they read more books but also learn the value of helping children who are not as well as themselves.
3. The school also has the opportunity of buying Puffin and Penguin books at half price (full details in the pack).
4. A teacher who runs three or more Readathons will receive a testimonial from the National Reading Campaign in recognition of their commitment to reading.
5. Parents, too, are happy to see this reading activity.
6. Everyone wins with Readathon!
Will it take up much of my time?
No! Teachers who run Readathon for the first time are amazed at how easy it is and many say 'it runs itself'. |

How long does a Readathon last?
We suggest about three weeks from giving out the sponsor forms to collecting the money.
Some schools ask children to read during the holidays, some run it in school time and one even had a 24 hour marathon read!
Where does the money to?
All the money you donate is sent to CLIC Sargent Cancer Care for Children and The Roald Dahl Foundation, who use it to help sick children and their families in your area. We donate well over £1 million each year.
Do I have to pay for the pack?
No, you download it from this website when you join and print out how ever many you need of each item.
Where can I find extra downloads?
Go to the Support page and you'll find various extra items you can download and print from. |
